The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli reacts ti the visit of the US Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo to Georgia.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: "The visit of the US Secretary of State to Georgia, our main strategic partner, is extremely important. The role of the United States in the development of our country is immense. Our fruitful cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and sport continues and take on new dimensions. I am convinced that the visit of the US Secretary of State will further strengthen the strategic cooperation between our great countries.
As the Minister noted, the United States has been Georgia's main strategic partner for many years. Several important joint projects have been implemented in the fields of education, science, culture, and sport. This is evidenced by the multimillion-dollar investment in education by the American people and government. There has been multiple dozens of schools being built, teachers and lectures trained, university projects being jointly produced and many more.
According to Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the US government has allocated a multimillion-dollar grant for the protection of Georgia's cultural heritage, which is used for the restoration, conservation, diagnosis and digitization of historical monuments.
The Minister said that fruitful cooperation continues, new programs are launched, existing mechanisms are expanded. The governments of Georgia and the United States will soon sign a cooperation agreement in the field of science and technology.
