Compulsory systematic testing of teachers and administrative staff in Georgian general education institutions, public and private schools is in-progress. The costs for the entire testing process is fully provided by the state.
Owing to the decision of the Interagency Coordinating Council, mandatory systematic PCR testing of at least 20% of all schoolteachers and school personnel is conducted every 2 weeks across the country, based on a protocol developed with the Ministry of Health. The remaining faculty members and school personnel will undergo quick Covid-19 testing.
To provide mandatory testing, the school administration registers all employees at the school on the following portal: https://labour.moh.gov.ge/. The process of testing school personnel by medical laboratories is carried out with the involvement of the Department of Labor Inspection.
In order create a safe educational environment and maintain the current dynamic in the country, the Ministry has updated its recommendations for schools. According to the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, it is necessary for students of V-XII grades to wear a facemask inside the school building and on the premises. Schools are provided with all necessary hygienic facilities.
