In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the World Bank Georgia Office held a presentation of the updated website www.vet.ge. The new e-portal is based on the principle of "one window", which brings together all available public data and statistics on vocational education, as well as information on new initiatives, government policies and priorities. The website was created in the framework of the ongoing project of the World Bank - "Improving the quality of teachers in vocational education", which is financially supported by the United Kingdom "Good Governance Fund". It aims to promote the development of skills relevant to labor market requirements for vocational education students by strengthening the capacity of vocational education teachers, as well as by providing evidence-based solutions and effective mechanisms.
The new website is designed to meet the needs of the parties involved in the reform process, as well as the main beneficiaries - students, which primarily means improving access to information for making informed career decisions. At the same time, the website will provide decision-makers with reliable and complete data about the sector. Its simple design allows public information, required data and educational resources to be easily accessed. The updated electronic tool www.vet.ge will increase the interest of potential beneficiaries, use the opportunities offered at vocational schools to develop skills, as well as make available the necessary information about the partnership of institutions and improve the image of vocational education.
"I am pleased to present the new electronic portal of vocational education www.vet.ge, which, I am sure, will increase interest in the sector and access to relevant educational services in Georgia. I believe that the updated website, especially now, under the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, will play an important role in disseminating information about vocational education and sharing knowledge and experience among students, teachers, and colleges. At the same time, I would especially like to encourage our partners from the private and public sectors to use this website to establish various cooperative relations with the sector” - stated Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
