Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the candidate running for the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, expressed great hope that the parents of the students will be actively involved in the process of textbook approval, which was allowed by the Ministry by law.
"Writing textbooks is a particularly important task. At this stage, the 9th grade textbook grading process is underway, involving all stakeholders, including the parents. An electronic portal has been created for this, where everyone can express their opinion. I have high hopes that parents will be actively involved in this process. They will be able to read the mock-ups of the manuals submitted for the approval and leave their comments.
"It is true that we have expert commissions that weigh all the words in the textbook, but the involvement of parents is very important" - said Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
The electronic system for administering the textbook approval will be activated from the spring of this year.
