The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli expresses his condolences over the passing of Anzor Erkomaishvili.

"It is disappointing that Georgia has lost one of the most outstanding and unique figures of Georgian folklore.

Everyone’s favourite artist has been loved and appreciated by the Georgian society for almost half a century. I firmly believe that the future generation will grasp the sheer importance of preservation, research and popularization of traditional Georgian music.

The scientific work, under the leadership of Mr. Anzor Erkomaishvili – “Georgia. History. Culture, Ethnography was just recently shared with the Georgian public. The book is an amalgamation of Georgian culture. Generations will grow up reading this book, further immortalizing Mr. Erkomaishvili’s name.

I offer my most sincere condolences to the whole of Georgia, to Mr. Anzor's family, relatives and his students. "
