Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia announced a competition for state scientific grants designated for fundamental research.
Owing to the decision of the Government of Georgia, this year the competition is financed with an unprecedentedly amount of GEL 8 million and includes such scientific disciplines and fields, which are defined by the classification of the Council of European Studies.
Furthermore, the main task of the competition is to study and analyse new ideas and concepts, which is of paramount importance for the socio-political, economic, technological development of the country. Additionally, the competition helps to create a competitive research environment, brings scientific research closer to the international standards, and internationalizes Georgian science.
New tools and resources have emerged to motivate young scientists in scientific projects, increased grant funding for key personnel, which is an additional incentive for the active collaboration of different generations of scientists.
Within the scope of the updated competition, competitive projects will be evaluated by international experts. At the same time, not only the regulations were changed and improved, but also the conditions of the competition and the criteria for evaluating scientific projects. Implemented changes now allow for more accurate and in-depth evaluation of scientific projects.
The competition for state scientific grants for fundamental research is another opportunity for Georgian science to strengthen cooperation with the world scientific space.
