The National Centre for Teacher Professional Development is announcing the following competitions to identify the best teacher of 2021:
- Best Information and Communication Technology Teacher of 2021
- The best physics teacher of 2021
- The best chemistry teacher of 2021
- 2021 Best Biology Teacher
- Best Science Teacher of 2021
The competition is open to senior, leading and mentoring teachers in information and communication technologies, physics, chemistry, biology, natural sciences, mathematics of Georgian public and private schools with at least 3 years of pedagogical experience.
Participation in the competition is voluntary and only one winner will be revealed within each competition.
Only the following have the right to nominate a candidate in the competition:
A) The teacher themselves, who fills in the form as defined by the Centre.
B) by the decision of the pedagogical / board of trustees, the school administration.
C) a local municipality and / or a non-governmental organization.
D) educational resource centres.

All fields are required in the competition application. Otherwise, the participant will be excluded from the competition.
The winner of the competition must meet the following criteria:
A) In-depth and thorough knowledge of the subject and its teaching - which will be revealed in writing (checking the documents in the teacher's professional folder), and orally (maximum 3-minute video recording). There will also be an evaluation on the applicant’s pedagogical credo, in conjunction with attending a lesson conducted by him/her. (The lesson is evaluated according to the order of the Acting Director of the Centre "On the Approval of Standardized Instruments of Teacher Assessment" approved by the order N124 of June 12, 2019.
B) Demonstration of creative skills - which will be revealed by the materials published by the teacher (letters, methodical and teaching literature, blog).
C) Dynamics of student learning outcomes - (e.g., improvement of students' academic achievement, attendance / behaviour).
D) use of innovative and effective teaching approaches - as evidenced by attending the lesson and getting acquainted with the plans of other lessons.
E) teaching of universal values - which is manifested in a tolerant attitude towards ethnic, cultural, religious differences.
F) Public recognition and civic activism - manifested by the teacher's involvement in school or community life and attitudes towards the community, local people, colleagues, school administration and the general public (e.g., participation in community activities)
G) Professional development and sharing of experience - as evidenced by the constant care of the professional development of both the teacher and his colleagues (e.g., involvement in various professional development activities, research of pedagogical practice, support of beginning and future teachers through counselling, mentoring or other means); Other activities aimed at popularizing the profession.
In your competition video (max. 3 minutes) please include the following topics:
1. The principles and values that are important to you as a teacher.
2. Indicate (give examples) how these principles and values are reflected in your pedagogical practice.

We would like to remind you that the competition is intended to find the best teacher, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, is held annually by the National Centre for Teacher Professional Development and its main goal is to popularize the teaching profession, promote prestige and reveal successful pedagogical practices.
