Prior to the start of the holidays, the educational process at general education institutions was conducted safely, taking into account the rate of virus spread in Georgia. Despite the increased co-infection in the country, the Ministry used all of its resources to ensure that the learning process was conducted in classrooms and that restrictions on schools were only point-based.

That is why the Ministry thanks the school community and all the citizens who have done everything to maintain safety in schools and again appeals to the public, especially on holidays and weekends, to strictly follow the protocol set by the Ministry of Health so that students can continue their studies in classrooms.

As of April 26-29, monitoring and mandatory testing confirmed the virus among 0.3% of teachers and school administrators and 0.1% of students nationwide. It is noteworthy that this figure is identical to the previous week, which is very important for the education system.

At the request of parents, also due to the confirmation of the virus, there are currently 106 schools and 180 separate classes across the country at full distance learning mode, a gradual increase over the previous week.

There is also a slight decrease in the number of teachers in the risk group who have been granted a request for distance learning. At this stage, 115 teachers across the country work remotely.

The Ministry hopes that in order to support the students, each person will show civic awareness and will strictly follow the established rules and guidelines.
