The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, together with the Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, visited the newly renovated public school in the village of Zeda Bakhvi, Ozurgeti Municipality, in conjunction with congratulating the students on the renewal of the educational process.
Renovation of St. Gabriel Bishop Public School in Bakhvi village was completed by the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. The entire roof of the school building was replaced, the yard fence was renewed, the heating system was installed, classrooms, a gym, corridors and bathrooms were arranged.
The complete school renovation was funded by the Educational Infrastructure Agency of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The total cost of the project was GEL 1 125 818.
Furthermore, a summary presentation of the pilot project to fully digitalize the Guria region, was presented by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava.
The event was attended by representatives of the Government of Georgia, the World Bank, local authorities, private telecommunications companies and invited guests.
Bakhvi School was founded by the Bishop of Imereti Gabriel Kikodze in 1870 and still bears his name. The current building was built in 1934 and it is designed for 700 students. There are currently 123 students at the school.
