The Prime Minister together with the Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli inspected the infrastructure of the university, which includes state-of-the-art academic buildings, libraries, cafeterias, well-equipped sports and road infrastructure, common workspaces, student dormitories, as well as accommodation. The Prime Minister also visited the site where the Hadron Therapy Centre is to be built.
A meeting with students was held at Kutaisi International University. The guests of Honor addressed the community, congratulated the young people on the completion of the semester study period and wished them future success.
Irakli Gharibashvili: "Development of our country without education is unimaginable, because education is a solid foundation, the basis for building a strong Georgia together. My humble advice would be to first set a clear goal - your goal must be very clear. You do not have to start small, start with the largest. The second thing I want to recommend is dedication - working tirelessly for this goal, 24 hours a day. Each of our successes, be it the completion of the first course, the completion of the second course, should bring us closer to this goal. If we walk in this spirit, we will all achieve a great dream and goal, because nothing is unattainable."
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “It has not been long since we opened Kutaisi International University. Do you remember what an emotional moment it was when you took the student oath and started the academic process? It is true that it took place in an unusual environment due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but the main thing is that with joint efforts - each professor, each student, the university leadership, the entire education system, we overcame this difficult challenge.
As you know, the author of the idea and concept of Kutaisi International University is Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Furthermore, the Hadron Therapy Centre is under construction which will soon become a part of the University. This is also a project of world importance and is fully funded by the Cartu Foundation. Two cyclotrons will be placed here, one will be used to treat tumours with ultra-modern methods, which is especially important for children with cancer, and the second cyclotron - a completely scientific research process in medicine, medical physics and nuclear physics. I personally had the good fortune to meet the world’s leading scientists in these fields. They have already expressed their readiness to arrive in Kutaisi and carry out a scientific research process together with Georgian scientists. So, very interesting processes are taking place at Kutaisi International University, you are undoubtedly a part of this history.
Europe came to Georgia here, in Kutaisi, in the form of this university, and I will repeat once again, this is truly a university with the highest European standard.
I am confident in your success because you are so good and talented. Thank you all very much!"
Rector Alexander Tevzadze, Chancellor Magda Maghradze, Chairman of the Board of the Cartu Foundation - Niko Chkhetiani and Project Director - Vakhtang Tsagareli, as well as representatives of local authorities and other invited guests attended the meeting.
