In order to raise awareness about science, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is launching the project "Science Calendar - 2021". The program includes several events and activities planned to promote science, including science-themed competitions, master classes, exhibitions, lectures, and a variety of cognitive and fun activities.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nunu Mitskevichi spoke about the planned news at the opening of the exhibition held in the exhibition space of the National Centre of Manuscripts.
According to the Deputy Minister, science is one of the main priorities of Georgia. Popularization of science in the society, especially among the youth, is essential for the proper management and development of the intellectual resource of our country. Access to reliable information is a determining factor in raising public awareness of Georgian science, its achievements and importance.
That is why one of the goals of the project is to create an Internet resource based on reliable sources about Georgian science, which will be available to everyone - in Georgian and English. To this end, the Ministry of Education and Science will implement a series of competitions for popular science articles within the program, the articles of which will be placed on the international online platform - Wikipedia, which will make this resource available to everyone.
Furthermore, at the National Centre for Manuscripts, the deputy minister announced one of the main competitions planned in this direction is "Kartvelology Wikipedia", which will be announced on July 1. The aim of the competition is to raise awareness about Kartvelology and all the scientists involved in this field.
The competition consists of several nominations, which will reveal the best articles about the fields of Kartvelology and their achievements, Kartvelologist scholars and Georgian manuscripts. The competition will be implemented by the National Center of Manuscripts with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, where unique Kartvelological material and treasures are stored.
By the end of the year, the competitions will be implemented in stages within the framework of a memorandum signed between the Ministry and Wikimedia, and any interested person will have the opportunity to contribute to the public awareness of Kartvelology by creating scientific articles and participating in the competition.
