The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, addressed the audience at the inaugural event of the Harvard University Kartvelology Program in New York and spoke about the historical significance of this event.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “Today we witnessed a truly historical event. At the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Gharibashvili, the Davis Center of Harvard University will start implementing the program of Kartvelology. This is extremely important for our country. The historicity of the fact also lies in the fact that this is the first time in American history.
Within the framework of the program, students will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the history, culture, literature, and politics of Georgia. I would also like to highlight the research activities that will be conducted under the auspices of this program. The program will start operating in February 2022 and will open with the first lecture, which will be delivered by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Gharibashvili.
At the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, with the financial efforts of the Government of Georgia, the Davis Center at Harvard University will launch a program in Kartvelology. The program will be led by American scientist and Kartvelologist, Professor Stephen Jones. The first lecture will be delivered by the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili in February 2022."
