Nino Mzhavanadze actively worked with students with special educational needs during her internship at the Neurodevelopment Center. It was then that she realized that inclusive education primarily meant acceptance of diversity, which then became a precondition not only for the student with special educational needs, but also for the welfare of society as a whole.
She became so interested in the activity that she decided to acquire relevant knowledge and become a special teacher.
"I started actively searching for information in order to gain professional knowledge in this field, and so I found a master's program in special education at Ilia State University, which gave me an extraordinary opportunity to learn effective teaching strategies for people with special educational needs and research special and inclusive education practices" - said Nino Mzhavanadze.
Additionally, she thinks that there is a maximum readiness in a public school to develop inclusive education on a daily basis. Nino tries to cope with daily challenges with dignity and to create a healthy environment with complex work.
"Our goal is to help students with special educational needs better master the curriculum, identify and strengthen their individual abilities, increase their degree of independence and integrate into the learning process" said the teacher.
Like other colleagues, she faced great challenges while learning online, but overcame the challenges through joint efforts.
“The whole education system has faced a great challenge during the online learning. It is important to work with students with special educational needs on an individual basis, as well as in face-to-face teaching, to accurately identify student needs. Parents are actively involved in monitoring the learning process, they themselves have become participants in this process, and the parent factor has played an important role in creating a positive learning environment in distance learning, which can be considered the most positive aspect of online learning."
Nino Mzhavanadze, a colleague, advises special teachers to always take care of professional development in order to be able to correctly define and implement appropriate teaching strategies to ensure quality education of students with special educational needs.
"Our goal is to provide an equally accessible educational environment where all students can receive education based on their individual educational needs and opportunities. I think the main desire and motivation is to understand what our goal is, what our mission is. In terms of relevant professional education, I think that where there is a desire and effort to do so, there are boundless human possibilities to empower students, teachers, and school administration.” stated Nino Mzhavanadze.
