The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited Tbilisi Public School No. 98, where several students affected by the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine were enrolled.
The minister accompanied the students and led them to their classrooms, where he introduced them to their new friends.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli, together with the school principal, held a meeting with the parents, got acquainted with the needs of the children in person and discussed the details of providing an appropriate educational environment with the school administration and faculty members.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia provides intensive enrollment of children from Ukraine in public and private schools. According to the current data, parents of 110 students of various ages expressed their desired to enroll at schools. 58 of them were already enrolled, whereas 52 students will be enrolled in the coming days.
Furthermore, children displaced from Ukraine are provided with psychosocial support by psychologists from the Resource Officer Service. It is important to note that as soon as this information was disseminated, dozens of interested people applied to the Psycho-Social Service Center of the Resource Officer Service.
Owing to the decision made by the Government of Georgia, all children who are unable to continue their general education in Ukraine, because of the ongoing conflict in their homeland, will have the opportunity to continue their studies in the schools of Georgia.
