With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, an event was held to present the model of the new national system supporting inclusive education, which was developed within the framework of the three-year project "No Child Without Education". The project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the United Nations Children's Fund, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian National Service for Special Educational Needs and aims to strengthen the quality and inclusiveness of the national education system.
It should be noted that within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a coordinating division of the national system supporting inclusive education in the service of the educational institution, which will offer new services to the school community.
The model involves mobilizing various responsibilities and services in one space, which will contribute more to coordinated management of existing resources, effective use, and focused enhancement of competencies. In addition, the new system ensures the strengthening of resource officers at schools, the improvement of the counselling component at public schools, the formation of effective operational teams and the development of new support services according to needs.
The introduction of the new system also envisages thorough, consistent, and multifaceted educational support adapted to the individual needs and abilities of each child and improving the quality of inclusive education practices in the learning environment. As a result, access to quality education for children with special educational needs and other vulnerable groups in public schools will increase.
As part of the implementation of the new national inclusive education support system model in public schools, it is also planned to conduct leadership development and counselling training programs for professionals responsible for promoting quality inclusive education. The trainings will start in October and will last until the end of 2023.
The International Relations and Strategic Development Department and the Inclusive Development Division of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, together with the Ministry's multidisciplinary team, the Norwegian Embassy, the Norwegian National Service for Special Educational Needs, the international organizations of the Norwegian National Service for Special Educational Needs, the educational institution's mandator service, and all invited vocational teachers participated in the event.
