The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, visited general, higher and vocational educational institutions within the framework of a working visit to Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and got acquainted with the innovations introduced at all levels of the education system.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited public schools of Baku, met with local teachers and students and attended activities planned within STEM and digital technology clubs.
The minister visited Baku State University, French-Azerbaijani University and Diplomatic Academy of Azerbaijan (ADA Universiteti), where he discussed the issues of deepening the partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the direction of higher education at a working meeting with university rectors and representatives.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli also held a meeting at the State Center of Industry, Innovation and Vocational Education in Baku, within the framework of which Minister Chkhenkeli introduced to the public the projects supporting the development of vocational education and the steps taken by the Ministry in the direction of the internationalization of technologies and innovations in Georgia. The minister also informed the participants of the meeting about the unified national strategy of education and science for 2022-2030 approved by the Government of Georgia, which provides for the modernization of the science, technology, and innovation (STI) system, which is vital for creating new knowledge in order to improve people's well-being.
Moreover, Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee for Relations with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the conversation, the parties discussed further enhancement of close cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, common goals and future perspectives of partnership.
Furthermore, Mikheil Chkhenkeli was hosted by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Emin Amrulayev. Within the scope of the visit, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia positively evaluated the implemented and ongoing educational projects by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. As he noted, it is important to strengthen cooperation with the Azerbaijani side in all directions of education and to implement joint scientific and research projects. Mikheil Chkhenkeli paid particular attention to the strengthening of ties between the academic circles, higher educational institutions, and vocational schools. On his part, the Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, thanked Minister Chkhenkeli for many years of fruitful partnership and expressed his readiness to deepen future cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
