The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia echoes the misinformation spread in the media regarding the alleged opening of the Russian-Georgian University.
Based on the high public interest, we hereby declare that the information about opening of a Russian-Georgian higher educational institution in Georgia with Russian funding is false.
Furthermore, we would like to bring your attention to the fact that no application was submitted to the National Center for the Development of the Quality of Education of Georgia with the request to officially establish a Russian-Georgian school.
According to the applicable Georgian legislation, no educational institution has the right to carry out educational activities in Georgia without the official consent and authorization granted by the National Center for the Development of Education Quality. In order to obtain the status of an educational institution, the institution must undergo a special process of authorization, the purpose of which is to ensure the fulfillment of the necessary standards for the implementation of relevant activities in order to issue a document confirming education recognized by the state. Authorization is mandatory for both public and private educational entities.
Therefore, we declare with full responsibility that there is no procedure in the educational system of Georgia regarding the opening of such a school. The information spread in this regard is plain disinformation, which serves the purpose of distorting the facts and misleading the public, and deliberately discredits the Georgian education system and the government.
