His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of all Georgia, Ilia II and Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini congratulated the schoolchildren of Queen Tamar Boarding-School on the beginning of the new school year.
The boarding-school was established in 2010 with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of all Georgia, Ilia II and the school operates under the patronage of the Patriarch. The school is managed by Archpriest Mirian Samkharadze. He was holding his activities in Tbel Abuseridze Gymnasium of Khulo.
Teaching is held according to the National Curriculum at this boarding-school. 400 schoolchildren study there. Ancient Georgian art and vocational teaching is envisaged in the Curriculum. Boys will study jewelry making , modeling on wood and stone and girls will be taught handiworks.
According to the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, teaching of different sciences, cultures of different nations and handicraft as well as the subjects included in the National Curriculum is very important.
Summer schools will be opened in the boarding-school in 2011. Infrastructure is fully refurbished there. Schoolchildren from Turkey, Iran and Saingilo will study in this summer school.
