Presentation of the project Book Buddy, initiated by MES was held in Tbilisi Public School №1.Mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava together with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini introduced the new project to the schoolchildren of primary classes. Guests spoke about the importance of literacy and read literature together with the second graders.

The project Book Buddy is designed to develop skills of reading, listening and analyzing in the schoolchildren, support popularization of reading.

According to the concept of the project, schoolchildren of secondary classes, students, writers, famous people and other volunteers will read literature together with the pupils of primary classes and afterwards, hold discussion on the read material. Similar project is being implemented in many countries of the world with the participation of well-known people.

Reading of the literature will be still held. Many famous people, public figures, writers and politicians expressed willingness to take part in the project.
