Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini represented 2010 report of MES, concerning the professional education reform strategy (2009-2012) to the participants of the conference. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze, members of the National Professional Council as well as Agencies, operating under MES and the representatives of the international organizations attended the conference.
Report covered information on the implemented activities that were envisaged in the action plan of professional education reform strategy. Ongoing reform is aimed to develop the new professional education system focused on the requirements of the labor market that will have impact on the economic development of the country, will be compatible with the common European and international education arena and support the self-realization.
In order to ensure the quality of the professional education, professional qualification framework, list of qualifications – classifier were developed; professional standards complying with the labor requirements as well as the relevant education programs were created; rehabilitation of the professional educational institutions and development of the material-technical resources is underway; improvement of the service concerning professional orientation and career planning is being held; web-site of the professional educational institutions were created and etc.
Prior to the implemented works, public discussions were held with the representatives of the professional educational institutions, governmental and non-governmental structures, professional unions as well as professional associations and international organizations.
During the strategy implementation, partner organizations provide MES with an essential assistance (INWENT, USAID, UNDP, IOM, GTZ, NRC and etc.). Numerous priority projects were carried out with their participation.
