The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini summarized the results of 2010 at the meeting with media representatives held at Prime Time office. The Minister spoke about the implemented reforms during 2010, particularity, on establishing High School Exams, project of recruiting 1,000 native English speaker teachers and the Resource Officers’ program. According to the Minister, the Government has fulfilled all the promises given at the beginning of 2010 – the schools have become more disciplined, the attendance of children at schools have increased and the quality of teaching has improved , though there are still some challenges to be met and the Ministry will work on solving these problems.
The society supports the conducted reforms in the field of education and the research of the World Bank serves as a proof of it. The research shows that 65% of WB respondents consider that during last year the condition in the field of education has improved, 83% supports resource officers' program and 64% positively assesses arriving of foreign teachers to Georgia. According to Dimitri Shashkini, acordding to the results of the research the society expressed its trust towards the reform course of the Government in the field of Education.
