First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Sepherteladze awarded with netbooks 30 winners of the competition, announced by the journal “Junior”.

The first joint competition was held by the journal “Junior” and MES in the scope of the Memorandum of Cooperation. Around 700 schoolchildren of 30 Public Schools of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Telavi participated in the competition, held among the devoted readers of the journal.

MES supported the competition due to its questions concerning applied and natural sciences. Strengthening natural science teaching at schools is one of the priorities of MES.

According to the terms of the competition, 30 questions that were selected from the previous editions of the journal were given as the tasks. The winners were identified according to the testing principle. Schoolchildren with the best scores in the tests won the competition.

All news, important for the intellectual development of the children, is published in the journal. 16 editions are already published. Children are able to read important articles on science and techniques, discoveries in the social sphere, cinema, music and new books. Internet links are given along with the articles in order to enable readers find more information. Logical tasks, cross-words are published in the journal.

In order to support schoolchildren’s development and advance their knowledge at general educational institutions, journal “Junior” along with MES plans to jointly hold competitions and all schoolchildren of the schools of Georgia will have opportunity to take part in it.
