By the decision of MES, construction of the new modern school for 200 children is underway in the village of Melaani, Gurjaani region. One million GEL will be allocated for the works.

“New school will start operating by September 15, 2011” – announced the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini visiting the construction sites along with Director of the Education and Science Infrastructure Development Agency of MES, Irakli Todua.

The older building, constructed in 1955 was not functioning during the previous two years and 175 schoolchildren of the school were distributed in the buildings of ambulatory and medical aid station in the non appropriate conditions. New school will be located in the landslide zone so serious preparation works were held before researching the foundation and creating the relevant project.

Improvement of the school infrastructure and creation of the modern school environment is one of the top priorities of the education reform. MES carries out serious works in this direction. Development of the school infrastructure will be implemented systematically according to the schedule based on the modern education standards in the coming period.
