Deputy Minister of Education and Science Irine Kurdadze attended a lecture/discussion dedicated to Russia’s occupation of Georgia on February 25, 1921 at Tbilisi public school №47. The event was organized within the scope of the Week of Occupation and aimed at raising civil awareness among the schoolchildren.
Institute of History Expert Lela Saralidze provided full information on Russia’s occupation of Georgia on February 25, 1921 to IXth graders of this school. The lecture caused a big interest among the schoolchildren; after lecture a discussion was held and Mrs. Lela Salaridze answered the questions posed by the schoolchildren.
Experts and Historians will hold similar lectures at different schools throughout the whole week.
The Ministry has been organizing the events dedicated to Russia’s occupation of Georgia on February 25, 1921 for 3 years. Various competitions and exhibitions are held. The aim of these activities is to fully inform schoolchildren on Russian aggression in 1921 and in 2008.
