Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini and Governor of Shida Kartli region Zurab Arsoshvili visited the reconstructed building of Gori University, where students study on about 15 vocational programs.
Vocational education is one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The students who get vocational education at vocational education institutions across Georgia will be the guarantee for economic development of the country.
The milk factory is functioning on the basis of Gori University. The factory was opened 4 month ago and it serves as the practical center for the students of vocational education institution. The Ministry plans to open practical centers at every vocational education institutions.
In years 2009-2010 the vocational programs at Gori University were financed by UNDP. 554 students were trained in this period.39 teachers and trainers work in these education programs.
Following vocational education programs for levels I, II and III will be operated at Gori University in 2011-2012: road builder, carpenter, bricklayer, plasterer, circuit installer of lightning and power mains, veterinarian, wine-maker etc.
In this year about 285 students can be enrolled to the vocational education institution in Gori. The number of students for the level I and II will be 184.
