First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze introduced the Standard of Georgian as a Foreign Language to the members of the Public Board. The Public Board is composed of parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition members, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, public and private schools’ principals, teachers and experts.
For the first time in Georgia the Standard of Georgian as a Foreign Language was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The Standard is designed for teachers, methodologists, educational program and textbook authors, educational literature publishers and editors as well as for self learners and for the people who are involved in teaching/learning process of Georgian as a foreign language.
The standard has already been introduced to the Special Committee. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini took part in the first working meeting of the Special Committee. Now the members of the Public Board will discuss the Standard and suggest their remarks to the Ministry.
By the announcement of the First Deputy Minister, such working meeting with the Public Board is very important. In the future the Ministry will continue closely collaboration with the Board on different issues.
