The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili opened a new school in the village of Tazrisi, Borjomi Rayon. As the President stated, the school rehabilitation and upgrading the school infrastructure is one of the priorities of the education reform. In this regard, intensive works are being undertaken in every region of Georgia.
The President of Georgia also met the teachers. Mikheil Saakashvili positively evaluated the current education reforms and highlighted the importance of education in developing of the modern state. By the announcement of the President, education has a wider political meaning than the activities of any statesman.
“ We would like to bring up the independent citizens of the independent country- in modern society only free persons can accomplish success”- stated the President.
In his meeting with the teachers, Mikheil Saakashvili focused on every direction of the education reform. The president talked about the role of teacher and raising the salaries for certified teachers, enhancement of learning of Georgian Language at non-Georgian schools, importance of bilingual textbooks, attendance of the schoolchildren at classes, the role of school resource officers in ensuring the safety at schools, school Olympiads, necessity of vocational education, provision of the first graders and the teachers with the netbooks.
The construction of Tazrisi school was financed by World Bank, currently 303 schoolchildren study there. The school has a sport pitch, library, meeting room, computer room, and science laboratory. In the frame of the Einstein Program, the school was supplied with the modern laboratories of Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
The schoolchildren of Tazrisi school are actively involved in the school Olympiads and conferences. The President of Georgia awarded the ninth grader Mamuka Gogoladze and eighth grader Natia Samsonidze with the portable computers for their successful performance.
