Holding the lessons with the use of the “Smart Board” continues. This time, model lesson in Mathematics was organized for the schoolchildren of Kutaisi Andria Razmadze Physical- Mathematical School. The lesson was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Irine Kurdadze and the Deputy Governor of Imereti Region Giorgi Shushania.
“Smart Board” is an interactive, electronic whiteboard that uses touch detection for user input. A projector is used to display a computer’s video output on the interactive whiteboard, which then acts as a large touch screen. “Smart Board” can enhance instruction and learning and it is possible to utilize it in the process of teaching any subject.
“Smart Board” helps the teacher to arrange a test for the pupils, while pupils can use remote clicker to answer the questions.
The studies have shown that utilizing the “Smart Board” in the learning process adds much to pupils’ engagement in the classroom; it also enhances the academic performance and help the pupils to easily comprehend the new material.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia responded to the President’s initiative to use more “Smart Boards” in the learning process - therefore the schools are being provided with the Smart Boards.
The National Center for Teacher Professional Development under the Ministry administers teacher’s trainings in applying the “Smart Board”. Up to 500 teachers have already been trained by the center. Model lessons are held daily at the Innovative Center of the Ministry and any teacher can attend these lessons free of charge.
