Ministry of Education
and Science of Georgia is getting ready for the new 2011-2012 academic year.
From the new academic year lots of technological, infrastructural changes will
be put into action. Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini
held a presentation of these initiatives for the press.
- 350 Public Schools
throughout Georgia will be rehabilitated by the beginning of the new academic
year;
- 12 new schools will
began functioning
- 2 professional
colleges will be opened in Poti and Kobuleti
- Teachers’ House will
start operation in Tbilisi
- All 1st
graders and their teachers throughout Georgia will get 60 000 net-books
- Schoolchildren from
vulnerable families will be provided with textbooks free of charge
- 1000 successful
schoolchildren will be awarded portable computers
- e-Schools – modern
electronic information system will be installed at schools. The schools of
Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi will have electronic class journals and schedules,
schoolchildren’s data base. Modern system will be a key to school’s electronic
administration. Parents will have the chance to get information online.
- From 1st to
6th grade new textbooks will be used in education process. These
textbooks are approved by Ministry and its cost is 10 GEL;
- Teaching of English
language with McMillan textbooks will begin in the 1st grade;
- The schools will be
provided with 10 000 new desks and boards;
- Smart Boards will also
be provided to schools;
- In the scope of the
program “Einstein” the schools are provided with 900 natural science
laboratories
Above mentioned
initiatives are implemented in the frame of the Strategy Plan of the Ministry
of Education and Science of Georgia for the years 2010-2015. The reforms that
Ministry undertakes are aimed to upgrade education system of Georgia to the
international level.
