Online registration was introduced for the first time for the above mentioned exams. Registration was conducted on the web sites of NAEC www.naec.ge; online.naec.ge. The process went without any complications and was quite comfortable for all participants.
There are some new initiatives in regard to unified national exams: the process of secondary enrollment has been discontinued. From 2012, entrants will have the opportunity to choose from 20 different specialties instead of seven. This new approach provides a wider choice for the prospective students, though they will be enrolled in universities based on their primary choice. Beginning next year, the minimal competency level for medical and law faculties will be increased by 10%, for foreign languages – by 30%.
CAT exams will be held in 8 subjects; as in the previous year, the minimal competency level is defined as 5.5 points. The exams will be held in all secondary schools according to the subjects on the same day.
This year, teachers of all subjects were eligible to register for the certification exams, including those teachers who wish to take the Computer and English exams. Natural Science subject teachers can also take separate exams in experimental methodology.
