School leaving exams of 2011-2012 academic year have been successfully completed. School students had to test their abilities in 8 subjects. Thousand of personnel have been involved in the exams. High standards at school leaving exams were facilitated by NAEC and EMIS. It is important to mention that notwithstanding recent structural changes the exams were conducted smoothly, without interference and concluded with high results.
The minimal competency barrier (5.5) has been crossed by less than 5% in the current year, whence 17% could not overcome minimal competency barrier 5.2, determined by the Minister.
Similar to last year high school exams have been conducted with CAT model. Technical facilitation and maintenance was provided by EMIS. Every CAT classroom was equipped with surveillance cameras and voice recorders. The examination process was observed by more than 2000 observers and 600 IT specialists.
Over 41,000 school students participated in the school leaving exams. The average score marked per subject was 8, considered to be the highest indicator. The final results of school leaving exams are as follows:

The success of school leaving exams for 2011-2012 academic year has been primarily determined by enhancement of quality of education and intensification of teaching of foreign languages, natural sciences and technical subjects, increase in motivation and introduction of “Einstein” labs at schools. Non-Georgian school students have shown high results at high school exams as well. Only 10% of non-Georgian school students could not cross the minimal competency barrier that speaks for the outstanding success and efficiency of the program “Georgian language for future success” initiated by the president of Georgia.
Public schools of Georgia have been equipped with 11,000 new computers by the Ministry. For the first time this year examinations have been conducted with a help of 1500 new school boxes, enabling stable and secure internet connection.
The examination organizational group was established at the Ministry with participation of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Ministry and the new leadership of the National Examinations Center guarantee that national unified exams will be conducted smoothly and in compliance with high standards.
