First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze visited Tbilisi Public School №9 and observed the process of National Assessment of 4th graders in Georgian language and Math.
National Assessment is carried out by the Education Quality Enhancement Center. 109 Public Schools, 2300 4th graders, their parents, school principals and 200 teachers take part in this process.
The aim of national assessment is to identify how 4th graders’ achieve the results defined by the National Curriculum in Georgian language (reading) and Math (quantitative reasoning).
The schools participating in the National Assessment have been chosen with the random selection. School students are taking tests which are composed on the basis of text-books and subject standards. Special questionnaires have also been distributed to parents, school principals and teachers. The results of the questionnaires will help to identify the factors effecting the academic achievements of the school students.
