National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ -Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationale Zusammenarbeit), held an opening of national competition of the project WorldSkills Georgia in a conference hall of “Didube Plaza”. The Event was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Ketevan Natriashvili, representatives of private/public institutions, associations, Georgian Trade UnionConfederation and other guests.
The national competition will be held on February 16-17 at vocational colleges “Spektri” and Ikarosi”. The aim of the competition is choosethe best contestant in three vocations (welder, web-designer, and cook). The winner will be able to participate in 42nd WorldSkills International Competition held on July 2-7, 2013 in Leipzig.
WorldSkills Georgia is a large scale project. Each year, competitions in professional skills are held within the framework of the project. This practice serves the implementation of world standards and the selection of successful young people. The winners will present Georgia in international competitions. The project is carried out with the support of the Government of Germany and the technical assistance of GIZ.
Participation in WorldSkills Competition will encourage development and popularizationof vocational education in Georgia and will emphasize its importance.
