Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili visited National Scientific Library of Tbilisi State University. Today, Ekvtime Takaishvili Rarity Hall was opened and a presentation on manuscript micro films electronic archive of National Scientific Library was made.  

Before, the readers were able to read ancient books only in the Hall. From now on, Rarity Hall will be used for this purpose.

Unique material is preserved in film archive section of the Library – Georgian, Greek, Arabic, Armenian manuscript films and photos preserved in manuscriptoriums abroad, collections of manuscripts from Mount Athos, Mount Sinai and the Library of Jerusalem Orthodox Patriarchate, as well as separate manuscript microfilms  from British Museum, Petritsoni Monastery, Oxford Library and Nepal Library.

Electronic archive of manuscripts was created by means of Dspace program system known throughout the world. The system ensures long-time preservation of electronic resources. Dspace possesses a search system which enables users to search according to author, topic, title and key words. Process of arranging books in a catalogues is underway. 

National Scientific Library was established in 1941. 3 000 000 works of scientific literature, 2 500 000 scientific magazines and 20 000 000 scientific patents, several unique editions and scientific books on foreign languages of the year 1530 are preserved in the Library.
