With the initiative of Giorgi Margvelashvili, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, pectoral award “Amagdari” was established for special merits in upbringing of future generations. The first award was handed to Klara Potskhverashvili, Georgian Language teacher at Poki Armenian-language public school in Ninotsminda district.
Klara Potskhverashvili arrived in Ninotsminda in 1990 within the Project of the Ministry of Education. The Program envisaged intensified teaching of Georgian Language. She has been teaching in Poki Public School since then. Klara Potskhverashvili has been actively involved in school life. Her pupils participate in various competitions and activities, stage performances in Georgian. The majority of those who become students are Ms Klara’s pupils.
Aim of awarding “Amagdari” is to express appreciation of merits of those who work in the field of education, to raise motivation and to encourage new projects and initiatives. Initially, the Ministry shall award 10 teachers of Georgian public schools.
