In 2012 National Center of Manuscripts and Bodleian Library (Oxford University, Great Britain) presented joint Georgian-British nomination for the manuscript collection of ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin’ preserved in both institutions in order to include the manuscripts in UNESCO World Register (96 items in total, 94 of which are preserved in National Center of Manuscripts and 2 of them in Bodleian Library).
The submitted application successfully passed all required stages in January 2013 and ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin’ has been included in UNESCO World Register.
The abovementioned fact represents a major success of Georgian cultural heritage and one more recognition of world importance.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science David Zurabishvili, a representative of the Ministry of Culture, Acting Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Georgia Doug McMillan and Official representative of UNESCO in Georgia attended the press-conference.
