Following the decision of Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, those entrants who were able to pass minimum competency level in National Unified Examinations 2013 but were not enrolled in selected higher education institutions, will be eligible for secondary enrollments. Tamar Sanikidze made the decision after meeting university entrants and their parents.
For the first time this year, within several months after the end of registration for the Exams and announcement of the initial results, university entrants were able to change, add, cancel or edit a sequence of selected educational programs. Number of programs was not limited (in 2012 they were able to choose only 20 programs), entrants could indicate all desired programs. As Tamar Sanikidze noted, the decision aimed at elimination of the necessity for secondary enrollments. In spite of the above mentioned, 693 entrants were unable to enroll.
Despite the fact that procedural or systemic violations were not observed, the Ministry of Education is taking into consideration that new registration model has been introduced this year and thus, it is ready to make an exception and give one more chance to approximately 700 entrants to become students – stated Tamar Sanikidze at the meeting with the entrants and their parents.
