Wine Day at Public College “Aisi”
“Wine Day” was held at
Public College “Aisi”. This was a professional orientation focused event and
aimed at raising awareness of vocational education, popularization of wine
making as one of the oldest trades, restoring and preserving traditional winemaking,
encouraging employment possibilities for vocational students and developing
“marani” (location for storing wine) tradition etc.
An exhibition was arranged within the framework of the event. Products made at College “Aisi” and wines made by wine farmers in home “marani” were presented at the exhibition. Guests were able to taste wines made by the College students using European and Georgian traditions and purchase the products.
First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ketevan Natriashvili attended the event. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and UNDP, heads of partner organizations of the College, wine farmers and employers were among the guests.
The following vocations are taught at the College “Aisi”: farmer, winemaker–winegrower, bee-keeper, fruit and vegetable cultivator, vet, tractor operator, receptionist, guide (geo-tourism etc.), tour operator (agro tourism), cook, mason, plasterer, tile paver, carpenter, electrician, engine craftsman, running parts technician.
Registration for the abovementioned programs is under way until September 14. Currently, up to 400 persons are registered for 19 different vocations. Most desired vocations are cook, mason, plasterer, tile paver and carpenter.
