Today, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia introduced the initiatives for the employment of people with disabilities during 2014 to the social partners. Main goal of the initiatives is to equip people with disabilities with skills and raise competitiveness on the labor market.

One of the priorities of the Ministry is to promote vocational education of the people with disabilities. The Ministry of Education is implementing the initiative “Implementation of Inclusive Education in VET System” with the financial and methodological support of the Ministry of Education and Research of Norway. 

Vocational education without employment prospects loses its sense. Consequently, it is important for the Ministry to have active dialogues with social partners, coordination works with other bodies in order to create common vision on employment.    

In 2014 main emphasis will be made on employers and their role in vocational education and employment possibilities of the people with disabilities, namely:

• International model analysis will be conducted on the issues of employment of the people with disabilities and special educational needs.
• Recommendation model will be prepared in order to increase their interest and involvement;

• Information campaign will be conducted on the role of the business in the employment possibilities of the disabled and people with special educational needs.
• A special attention will be made on the increase in access to the employment possibilities for the disabled and people with special educational needs, development of their skills and competences
