The discussion was about signing a memorandum between WIPO and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, which will strengthen collaboration in such important issues as promotion of innovative activities and establishment of educational facility for Intellectual Property (IP). It was pointed out on the meeting that while establishing academy of Intellectual Property, support and collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is significant.

The Ministry works closely with the National Intellectual Property Center to promote innovative activities in the Country. Various youth science and school contests are held within the joint project.

Development of the Intellectual Property system is one of the main priorities for Georgian Government and its protection is one of the significant issues for the agreement with EU about Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).

World Intellectual Property Organization, special agency of UN, whose member has been Georgia since 1991, is a global forum of Intellectual Property policy, service, information and collaboration. WIPO is helping 188 countries in developing balanced legal system for International Intellectual Property to satisfy existing needs of society. It provides business services for various countries and helps to solve disputes. Also it proposes programs for improving qualification, so the developing countries can benefit from using Intellectual Property, also it provides free access to the unique educational banks of the Intellectual Property.
