Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources jointly organized the EU research and innovation program "Horizon 2020" Information Day "protection of the environment and the Horizon 2020 in Georgia" will be held.
Horizon 2020 is an information meeting was opened by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Teimuraz Murghulia.
Environment and climate change has an important role in the EU's Horizon 2020 program. Under this program, the aim of the research is to manage and save natural resources and water efficiency and to fight with the reasons of climate change. All of these are the determined factors for the sustainable economy and society, as well as for the planet, for the survival of the natural resources and ecosystem.
To take into consideration the relevance of the topic, over the 2014-2020 period for the Horizon 2020 program, 35% of the 80 billion dollar budget is allocated to climate change and environmental issues. Therefore, it is important to raise the awareness of the scientific community, researchers and industry about such the EU's largest financial instrument, as the Horizon 2020 program. That was the purpose of this meeting, where the speakers discussed the topics such as participation rules in Horizon 2020 and the preparation of the proposed project; the environmental trends in the frame of Horizon 2020 program: the themes of the ongoing and planned competitions for the period 2016-2017.
At the same time, Georgian researchers working on environmental issues in the EU's research and technological development in the 7th Framework Programme, which is a precursor to the Horizon 2020 program, they shared the most experience and practical advice to the audience.
