12 successful students, winners of school Olympiads and many other competitions, arrived from the Great Britain. They did two weeks long English language intensive course at Heisting (England) English Language Summer School. The pupils were picked from ‘English Language Summer School’, which is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with Buckswood international school.
During their stay in the UK, the students were busy with both academic and non-academic activities. They had lots of excursions, lived in traditional English families and were introduced to their traditions and culture.
English Language Summer School is one of the projects implemented by the ministry within the framework of the program ‘Strengthening English Language Teaching’. The project took place in Tskneti, on the base of ‘Buckswood International School-Tbilisi’. Mentioned pupils were second call participants and spent 3 weeks there. Another 12 winner pupils will leave for the UK to get the same cultural and educational experience on 19 September.
The participants of ‘English Language Summer School’ are 9th 10th 11th grade secondary school pupils. Selection of pupils takes place on the basis of their participation and results of subject Olympiads and various school competitions, as well as their fluency English language knowledge at a basic level.
36 best pupils out of 600 are selected, who will gradually go to the UK for English language learning courses for 2 weeks.
Beside the holidays, Tskhneti Buckswood school pupils deepen English Language skills with the books created especially for this program by the Buckswood international school. Activity program is developed by the English side and is aimed at pupils’ intellectual, sport and creativity development. This form of encouragement of special and successful students is very important as motivation increases and more pupils take part in school Olympiads year by year.
