Millennium Challenge Foundation-Georgia held advisory meeting for the Professional Education Development grant competition. The event was attended by the representatives of vocational colleges and potential applicants of the competition. The event was held within the framework of the project ‘Vocational Education for Economic Development’. The budget for the project is 16 million dollars. The meeting was opened by the executive director of the project Magda Magradze. Ketevan Natriashvili (First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia) delivered a speech. The meeting was also attended by the MCC deputy director of the representative office Sonia Sharigian and head of the project Davei Handley.
The total budget of the grant competition is 12 million US dollars. The amounts of grants are determined from 300 000 US dollars to 3 million US dollars. Eligible subjects wishing to participate in competition are: Public and private vocational institutions, higher educational institutions, companies, non-governmental organizations and other legal entities working or intended to start working in education sector.
Application process consists of two phases: presenting conception and presenting complete application (only for the applicants who were chosen after the first phase). The project is funded by Millennium Challenge Corporation within the framework of 140 million US dollar-compact. The project is processed through the cooperation with The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
