New academic year of 2015-2016 has been started at Ivane Javakhishvili StateUniversity on 14 September. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze, The Mayor of Tbilisi Davit Narmania and TSU Rector Academician Vladimir Papava congratulated students the beginning of a new academic year. The event was attended by the representatives of the ministry and academic circles.

TSU rector, Academician Vladimir Papava gave scholarship award to VII semester bachelor student Venera Tsertsvadze, studying at the faculty of Economics and Business. Scholarship holder will get 250GEL from the rector salary every month during the year. During the event best teachers of 2014-2015 will be revealed, chosen by students. They will be handed special certificates.

About 3600 students start their bachelor program this year after the passing entrance exams. Ivane Javakhishvili State university was leader as in terms of first choice of applicants, as well as in terms of total demands. More than 10 000 applicants from 39 000 picked TSU as their first choice. More than 20 000 students study at 7 faculties at TSU.

The university provides 212 accredited educational programs. Among them are 65 bachelors’, 3- one-stage, 90-masters’ 42- Ph.D., 9- vocational, 3 – Georgian Language Training Program. Besides, TSU provides foreign language and joint education programs from different universities of the world.
