For the first time in Georgia and in Caucasus region, „International Week of Science and Innovations“has been opened. The date of the week is symbolic. It opens on November 10, International Day of Science and ends on November 17, International Students Day.

In the framework of the international week, several central events of international scale as well as more than 100 parallel events have been planned. In particular, conferences, presentations of the latest scientific publications and projects, exhibitions, popular science lecture-seminars, training sessions, workshops, open days, science cafes, and fun science for school pupils etc.
Logo of the international week is interesting and distinctive, which reflects an image of urban artwork by the artist Bacha Khoperia (Dr. Love) titled: "Zezva and Mzia Taking Selfie", which took its inspiration from the Dmanisi hominins reconstruction. Logo of the international week embodies the symbolic way of science and innovation developing: From ancient times up today. ""Zezva and Mzia Taking Selfie"reminds us that science is inseperable part of our daily, practical life.
Geography of the international week is unprecedented - Tbilsi, Telavi, Gori, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Batumi, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Abastumani, Igoeti, Alvani, Upper Vejini.
Participants of the international week are as follows: state and private universities of Georgia, scientific-research centers, The Georgian National Academy of Sciences and The Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Georgian National Museum, Microsoft - Georgia, San Diego University, Springer publishing house, as well as foreign representatives of scientific circles from the following countries: USA, Germany, Switzerland and, most importantly, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with moving exhibition "CERN Today" and "LHC interactive tunnel". The exhibition, which is being held for the first time in the Caucasus region, will allow viewers to get an insight of about the activities and the latest discoveries of this center of universal. We are proud that Georgian universities cooperate closely with CERN- Georgian professors and students are involved in the projects of CERN.
By means of conducting international week, this year marks the first time for such a wide and universal celebrations of these dates and starting from the next 2016 year, foundation will be laid to an important tradition: our city and the country will host the “International Festival of Science and Innovations” and we will join the world's leading cities where similar festivals are held.
The „International Week of Science and Innovations “organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in 2015 and the “International Festival of Science and Innovations” in 2016 will be a clear expression of the care that the state is demonstrating towards the science and of those positive steps and real, tangible progress that has been achieved in the recent years.
