In 2014, the 200th birth anniversary of Dimitri Kipiani was marked. Kipiani s personal archive fund is kept at at Korneli Kekelidze National Centre of Manuscripts, respectively, for celebration of Dimitri Kipiani s 200th birth anniversary and also for promotion of one the most important public figure s life and work, National Centre of Manuscripts with financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, prepared educational-exhibitional project.
Exhibition was held at Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium, which is symbolic because, until the exile Dimitri Kipiani had been working in Gymnasium as a teacher and for many years he had been honorary tutor of Gymnasium, he was formulating the curricula and programs, textbooks, he actively fought for Georgian language rights in schools or state institutions.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze and the Director National Centre of Manuscripts Zaza Abashidze opened the exhibition, which will be hosting the visitors from November 10 including November 15. Personal archive materials (reflecting public activities, personal correspondence, photographs, rough copies of the works) of Dimitri Kipiani, Archil Jorjadze, Dutu Megreli and others will be presented at the exhibition. The exhibition also features computer program that represents multidimfensionality of Dimitri Kipiani s activities.
Small research and inquiry for students – in the course of exhibition, special data sheets were prepared and based on the presented archive materials, pupils filled them in through answering specific orders.
During the event, two academic meeting-discussions were held organized by specially invited guests. Of the Center experience, such meetings are particularly interesting for students. Based on the experience of National Centre of Manuscripts, similar types of meetings are especially interested for pupils. Factor of the final competition increases interest for lecture, where any knowledge may contribute to obtaining advantage in comparison with competitor team.
The quiz will be held within the exhibition. On November 15, school groups registered on the quiz will process indicated literature, listen to lectures of invited experts and will get acquainted with archival documents presented at the exhibition, there will be a quiz. Participating teams will receive certificates and presents and the winning team will get the winner’s charter.
