Dr. Reinhold R. Graeme – the Chairman of the German Accreditation Council is having a business meeting in Georgia. Dr. Graeme was invited at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia for the Quality Development Center, where the sides discussed the innovative ideas and the new models that are currently implemented in German accreditation system. Georgian counterparts, are sharing the German experience, which is crucially important, as similar changes are bound to happen in the Georgian model.
During the meetings, Prof. Graeme talked about the internal and external quality assurance mechanisms in Germany, institutional and program accreditation standards and procedures. He introduced the PhD, and joint programs with the regulatory requirements. In addition, accreditation also faces (conditional accreditation) and its subsequent procedures. Prof. Graeme talked about the accreditation procedures for the appointment of experts, training of experts and the importance of integrating the international experts with their experience into the system.
During the last working meeting, the Chairman of the German Accreditation Council talked about the German Accreditation structure and their functions, as well as internal regulations and responsibilities of its members. Dr. Graeme, also reviewed the accreditation hierarchy in Georgia (universities, national agencies, ENQA).
