Today, the 8th season of National Museum’s Dmanisi Paleoanthropological Field School 8th was closed. The Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava, the Minister of Culture and Monument Protection – Mikeil Giorgadze, the deputy Minister – Levan Kharatishvili, and the head of School of Science Commission, and a member of National Academy of Sciences – David Lortkiphanidze attended the ceremony. During the closing ceremony, the guests were introduced to the latest discoveries.

Paleoanthropological Field School of Dmanisi, invites students from various countries since 2009, and occurs in parallel with the world-scale interdisciplinary research. A four-week training course, includes practical works (excavations), as well as the theoretical lectures. Within the scope of the project, besides the staff of the National Museum, the lectures are being given by the leading researchers/scientists from the world’s leading research institutions, such as; University of Zurich, University of Kyoto, Harvard, University of Florence, University of Minnesota, and etc. 

The selection of students who participate in the field works are being organized gradually. This year, the field school students, had courses on all continents (Japan, USA, Australia, Brazil, UK, Ethiopia, Georgia).

The number of Field School students is increasing every year. At present, there are 71 Field-School graduates. It should be noted, that the successful graduates, continue their studies in various international successful universities.
