The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Aleksandre Jejelava, visited a renovated public school in Pkhvenisi, within the scope of Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Second Compact. The executive director of Millennium Challenge Account – Magda Maghradze, and the director of US Millennium Challenge corporation – Jenner Edelman, accompanied the Minister and inspected the school. The school was reconstructed over the territory of 1500 square meters and has the capability to accept 240 students in two shifts.
In 2016, within the project of developing the infrastructure of public school’s project, the Millennium Challenge Account has renovated 12 schools. Public schools in Bebnisi, Gori, Zerta, Tianeti, Okami, Saqasheti, Skria, Tiniskhidi, Tkviavi, Pkhvenisi, Dzegvi, and Khidistavi have been fully rehabilitated. The first renovation season entails, rehabilitating 30 public schools in the regions of Mtskheta-Tianeti, Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, whereas approximately 100 schools are to be renovated in different regions of Georgia.
The project is funded by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation, the second compact, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science.
