After many years of successful cooperation, the European Union National Institute for Culture (UENIC), with the participation of high school students, has celebrated the European Day of Languages at the Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium. The event was opened by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science – Lia Gigauri, the President of EUNIC in Georgia – Stefan Vakvitsi, and the head of Council of Europe in Tbilisi – Christian Urse.

Moreover, the program included competitions, workshops, and many other entertaining and educational events.

European Day of Languages was established ​​by the Council of Europe in 2001 to celebrate Europe's cultural diversity and multilingualism. This day is celebrated every year on September 26 and aims to encourage the eight hundred million people living in the Council of Europe’s 47 member states. It emphasizes that the linguistic and cultural diversity is Europe’s major components and that the countries should be proud of their cultural heritage.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the EU delegation in Georgia, and the representatives of the diplomatic corps in Georgia.
